Where

In 2008 100,000 trees for Thai elephants have been planted at five locations. A landmark for Bring the Elephant Home, which we accomplished thanks to the support of all our donors! To be able to plant so many trees is also a great incentive to do a lot more for the Thai elephants and to plant many more trees in the years to come.

Besides our four Thai partner organisations, certainly 1,000 Thai and international volunteers have helped planting the 100,000 trees. By planting trees, the living environment and food situation of Thai elephants will be improved. Also a network of elephant protectors is created.

The more than 100,000 trees have been planted in several locations important for the protection of wild elephants. At the Salakpra Wildlife Sanctuary (10,000 trees) and the Khao Yai National Park (25,000 trees) it is all about protecting wild elephants. At Khao Yai, for instance, a corridor of trees will connect two forests, to expand the habitat of the wild elephants.
At the Elephant Nature Park (40,000 trees) and an elephant sanctuary, to be created in the future on an island in the Isaan (30,000 trees), it is about improving the situation of domesticated elephants. In the Isaan Bring the Elephants Home is working together with The Population and Community Development Association (PDA). Families in several villages will be helped to generate income and villagers are supported to plant trees for elephants on a future elephant island. For families with an elephant this means that at some point they will no longer take their elephants into cities to beg.
