Bike for Elephants 2021

Due to Covid-19, this event has been postponed until further notice!

Join Bring The Elephant Home and Hua Hin Bike Tours by Tour De Asia Bicycle Touring at the 12th annual Bike For Elephants! The two-day event will take place on Saturday, February 20 – Sunday, February 21, 2021 in Kui Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Riders will cycle through breathtaking trails, surrounded by the mountains of Kuiburi National Park. The national park hosts approximately 300 wild elephants, as well as other frequently-seen wildlife, including gaur, banteng, hornbills, and jackals.

Special thanks Gui and Pedro of The Little Urban Farm for creating this beautiful video to promote the event!

The ride will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday in Ruam Thai village, and we’ll cycle through stunning trails to our first day’s destination of Huay Luek sub-station, which is the starting point for a community-led elephant-watching safari into the national park. After dinner, we’ll rest at the Chang Pa Kui Buri Homestay. This community-run project offers an authentic Thai experience to visitors and gives host families the opportunity to earn alternative income, which makes up for economic losses from human-elephant conflict. After breakfast, we’ll continue cycling throughout the community, circling the picturesque water reserve before arriving at the edge of Kuiburi National Park, which will be the finish line of Bike For Elephants. After lunch, we’ll join the community in a tree planting activity to restore elephant habitat.

The ride is child-friendly and bikes can be provided for all ages. The participation fee is 5,000 THB per person, which includes bicycle and helmet rental, national park entrance fee and safari activity, homestay fee for Saturday night, insurance, a Bike For Elephants 2020 t-shirt, breakfast on day 1 – lunch on day 2 + snacks and refreshments at rest stops along the route. Price can be reduced for groups of 4+ people – contact organizers for details.

Accommodation at the homestay can be arranged on Friday and/or Sunday if you would like to spend more time in the community before/after the event. Pick up and drop off can also be arranged from the Kui Buri minibus stop or train station. Both accommodation and transportation additions require an added fee.
