Rules and regulations

  • A team needs to have minimum 4 and maximum 10 members, one being nominated as team leader.
  • Make sure your insurance covers an event like this. Bring the Elephant Home (BTEH) will not be held responsible for any damages, disease or injuries arising out of, or in any way related to the Bike for Elephants event.
  • If a member is injured or exhausted at least one team mate has to stay with him /her. Under no circumstances are individuals to be left unaccompanied. If a team member becomes seriously injured and cannot be moved, one person must stay with him or her while the others seek help.If the injury is serious, call the event coordinator (phone number printed on your registration card).
  • If you cannot complete the route or you need to leave the event, you must contact the event coordinator. Find a landmark on the route to that the support vehicles can easily find you.
  • Do not drop litter, respect the environment and local neighborhood.
  • Teams must carry a minimum of two mobile phones.
  • Each team should carry a basic first aid kit. Prescription medication and painkillers are your team’s responsibility. For medical assistance you have to call the event coordinator first. The nearest hospital is Mae Tang hospital, at most a 30 minutes drive.
  • As a team you will receive your own page on our website to help you with online fundraising.
  • The teams will set their own target for their fundraising efforts, but a minimum amount of 5,000 baht (100 euro) per person is required.
  • The 5,000 baht should be raised a week prior to the event. Participants that fail to do so will be unable to start the event without the prior approval of the event coordinator.
  • You can use our website to write updates, upload pictures and write about your sponsors.
  • To register for this event, you need to pay for the costs of the event, 2,500 baht pp – excl mountain bike (or 3,300 baht pp incl mountain bike, helmet and water bottle) and raise a minimum of 5,000 baht per person to support the Elephant Nature Park.
    This fee includes a Bike for Elephants t-shirt, transportation to starting point, safety instructions, a sponsor book, meals and drinks, camping at the Elephant Nature Park, boat ride on Mae Ngat reservoir and transportation back to Chiang Mai. Also included: elephant feeding, bathing, elephant morning walk, a lot of new impressions, friends and an experience you won’t forget.
