What species did we plant in the Elephant Nature Park?
Picture: Makhamong, the government donated 8.000 seedlings.
During the hottest month in Thailand, april, the nursery in the Elephant Nature Park is empty. In total we planted about 20,000 in the Park already, as follows Teak, Tamarinde, Bamboo, Mango, Ki Lek, Mai Doo, Mai San, Mai Sak, Rainforest tree, Makhamong and Ma Yom. Some teak trees that have been planted in august last year, are 2 meters high already! Teak is a pioneer species and grows really fast in the Elephant Nature Park. The trees have been planted in the Elephant Nature Park, along the road to Elephant Haven, in Elephant Haven, during Jumbo Express in surrounding villages and in the new land opposite the Park.
With the rain season coming near, the nursery has to be improved. While the construction people are still working on the new nursery, Lek calls the local government nursery to get new seedlings. We take the truck immediately to pick up 10,000 young trees. And they let us know they help us more in the future.
