Jumbo Express on tour
January 2006
At the temples where we will be staying overnight during our journey we saw a lot of animals which were in a bad shape. A lot of dogs with skin problems: fleas, infected wounds… The monks told us that it is quite common that people drop off their sick animals at the temple, they know the monks will take care of them anyway. The monks do give them food, but they can’t give a lot of medical care since their means are limited.
Because we do have a vet travelling with us anyway and medicine are that expensive here, we will run a mobile animal clinic during our journey free of charges.
In our minibus we have stored three boxes filled with all kinds of animal medicine. When we are staying at the temples we will treat animals for free, and when necessary leave medicine behind for further care. This way we help more animals and we can do something in return for the temples and neighbourhoods we will be staying at. Jumbo Express on tour!
