Wanted: trees for elephants volunteers
The rainy season is starting, so we need many volunteers to help us planting trees for elephants. Will you help? You can join us at four different locations to create natural habitat and food for wild and domesticated elephants. Everybody is welcome to join! Dates: June 17, June 18, June 23 and June 28.
You will have the opportunity to get involved with different Thai organizations and a variety of activities including reforestation, work together with local and international people of all ages and to learn about the problems elephants are facing.
Activities
We need volunteers to help us organizing the events, prepare the land, tree planting, give fertilizer, logistics, education, documentation, etc. If you want to join more days or join with a group: you are very welcome! Please contact us if you want to help. Dates and other details:
Wednesday June 17: Elephant World in Kanchanaburi
Elephant food plants for former street begging elephants in a beautiful valley at the river Kwae. Possibility to camp at the site.
Thursday June 18: Salakpra Wildlife Sanctuary
More tree species for wild elephants in the sanctuary. Bring the Elephant Home supports a tree nursery in Salakpra with the aim to increase the biodiversity of Salakpra and to create more food for the 174 wild elephants that are living there. Possibility to camp at Elephant World.
Tuesday June 23: Khao Yai National Park
Connecting the National Park with a community forest to enlarge elephant habitat and decrease human elephant conflicts. Possibility to camp at the center of the Wild Elephant Research Fund.
Saturday June 28: Elephant Island, Lammas Waterpark, Buriram
Planting trees and elephant food plants on the elephant island, creating an alternative for street begging. Homestay in the village with cultural activities.
Costs
During tree planting events, we will provide food and drinks. If you would like to stay overnight or join us for more days, please help us with the costs, which are about 1,500 Baht per person per night, including food and accommodation. Transportation is not included in our programs.
Note for Thai people/groups that would like to participate, but with limited budget, please contact us to see if we can find sponsorship.
