Bteh has grown a lot in a short time, we have plenty of opportunities to keep growing, and our work is still very necessary. Time to make the organisation more professional. We are pleased to introduce to you the new board of Bring the Elephant Home
After six months of working under the wings of the Friends of the Elephant, we have decided to continue on our own. We seem to have different ways to do things, and on its own Bteh can do more for the Thai elephants. Off course we will continue to work together.
Bring the Elephant home now has a strong new board the Netherlands, and we will get cracking full speed and with new energy:
Berrie Jurg has been appointed as chairman. He will be in charge of the general management of the board; he has the final responsibility for policies and finance; thinks along about and helps with fundraising activities. Berrie (chief fundraiser for Friend of the Earth) has helped Bring the Elephant Home with, among other things, the television commercial, organising our fundraising festival Olifantasia, fundraising, and important decisions.
Liesbeth Sluiter will be the vice-chairwoman of the board. Liesbeth will think along about policies and strategies, and draw up and edit fundamental texts. Liesbeth, reporter and photographer, has, together with Antoinette, written the book ‘Thaise olifanten van de straat’, and has witnessed the journey and its preparations up close. At the moment she is supervising the English translation of the boek.
Eric Seuren will join the board as secretary. He will take care of the daily activities, such as PR, communications, analyses, newsletters, and website. Eric has been with Bring the Elephant Home since the beginning. He has helped out with fundraising activities for the journey, took on the supervising activities in the Netherlands when Antoinette was in Thailand, and helped out on parts of the journey.
Antoinette’s father, Leo van de Water, will be treasurer of the foundation, and will keep the ‘office’ of Bring the Elephant Home going. He will be taking care of accounting, salary records, and incoming and outgoing mail. Leo has a lot of administrative experience, and, of course, has supported his daughter through all her highs and lows.
A strong new board, a new office, many new plans and lot’s of positive energy… the elephants can certainly count on us!
