Urgent call for help Jungle Fund
For years the Elephant Nature Park has been searching for possibilities to expand the Park. Bring the Elephant Home so far has been able only to buy a number of separate parcels of land close to the park to grow food for the elephants. To buy land adjacent to the current park to really expand it seemed impossible at a reasonable price. But now there’s a possibility!
Some time ago the head monk of the village has contacted Lek, the manager of the Elephant Nature Park, to buy a piece of land he owns, which is adjacent to the Park and has access to the river. However, at that time he asked a unacceptable amount of money for it (5 million Bath). The parcel of land, almost 6 rai, or 2.4 acres, borders the southside of the current park. It’s laying next to the river, has a lot of lychee trees, lots of shadow, and no access to public roads. Thus, this would be an ideal parcel of land for the necessary expansion of the Park.
Last week Lek has been in contact with the head monk once more, and to everyone’s surprise the headmunk now offered the land for 250.000 Bath! (approx. 5.000 euro’s, $6.450) Lek immediately called me to inform if we could help her to finance it. Ofcourse we would like to help!
Therefore I hope you could make a special newyears gift into the ‘Jungle fund’. If al our donors would give 5 euro’s, by next month the elephants would have an extra 6 rai of beautiful land.
