Inspection Ayutthaya

Last week my girlfriend Hanna has arrived in Thailand. Because we had to wait for approval of a permit from Mae Tang we spend our time relaxing on the island Koh Mak. When Mr. Lee gives us a call the permit for Mae Tang has been arranged, we leave for Ayutthaya. There the “preparation group” is sort or less complete. We have a minibus, driver Yuut and his girlfriend Nong included, Hanna who is gonna be the photographer, filmer, writer, bananasupplier and moral support all in one, and ofcourse Mr. Lee, our supermanager.

In Ayutthaya we visit the temple where we will first camp during our trip northwards. Mr. Lee wants to try to get to speak to the temple leader and the head of the school. Unfortunately the temple leader has just left when we arrive, but the good news is that it is still the same temple leader as a couple of years ago, which means it is an old acquaintance of Mr. Lee. He will most probably approve or stay at the temple. One thing is sure, the head of the school is very happy with us coming! We immediately start to think about the possible things we could do with the school. The school has about 200 children who we want to spend at least one day with. Giving presentations about the project, elephants in general and ofcourse taking pictures with them and the elephants. As many interactive activities as possible, like painting, English lesson, singing the “chang” (elephant) song together with the children, playing football etc. That’s or plan for the time being.

Because we will make this trip together with a professional vet we will also offer to help all animals near our camp for free. We have already noticed a lot of neglected dogs in and around the templecomplex with a very bad skin, so we want to take medicine with us to treat these animals. Jumbo Express on tour! Ans a templeceremony with the munks and the elephants can’t be missed ofcourse. We can’t wait to start making preparations in Chiang Mai. Ayutthaya, we’ll be back soon with the elephants!
